The BSV Association has announced technical testing on Teranode, a blockchain upgrade designed to enable the BSV Blockchain to process over 1.1 million transactions per second.
Mainstream blockchains have traditionally struggled to maintain stable service beyond tens of thousands of transactions per second, limiting adoption in high-volume sectors. Teranode aims to redefine those limits, targeting transaction volumes at least 10 times higher than the Visa and MasterCard networks combined, while significantly reducing costs.
Beyond financial transactions, Teranode is designed to process substantial amounts of data, laying the groundwork for data indexing and broadcast services. The upgrade also addresses artificial intelligence applications, ensuring seamless operation with verifiable and auditable information, and integrates with Web3.0 and the IPv6 upgrade.
The BSV Association plans to test Teranode using a geographically distributed cluster spanning North America, Europe, and Asia over two to six months, partnering with Aerospike, a real-time NoSQL database provider, to ensure high-performance processing at scale.
Siggi Oskarsson, Teranode Director at BSV Association, described the upgrade as the next-generation solution for public blockchains, designed to meet the demands of enterprise and governmental adoption.
