China Asset Management's Hong Kong arm has launched two new tokenised money market funds denominated in USD and renminbi, adding to its existing HKD Digital Money Market Fund to create what it describes as Asia's most comprehensive tokenised MMF suite across three major currencies — with the RMB product confirmed as the world's first tokenised fund denominated in renminbi.
According to ChinaAMC Hong Kong's primary press release, the RMB Digital Money Market Fund launches alongside a USD equivalent, complementing the HKD Digital Money Market Fund that received SFC approval in February 2025 as the first retail tokenised fund in the Asia-Pacific region. Standard Chartered acts as custodian across the suite, combining conventional custody services with digital asset capabilities.
The three-currency structure is the defining feature. Prior tokenised money market fund launches from BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, UBS, and WisdomTree have been predominantly USD-denominated. ChinaAMC's RMB product addresses a specific gap in Hong Kong's on-chain monetary infrastructure — the city is the world's primary offshore renminbi centre, and institutional demand for RMB-denominated on-chain yield instruments is structurally distinct from USD demand.
Distribution extends beyond traditional qualified brokers and banks to include Hong Kong-regulated Virtual Asset Trading Platforms, with named distribution partners including CITIC Securities, Futu Group, Guotai Junan International, OSL, and Solomon. The VATP distribution channel gives the funds access to a crypto-native investor base that conventional tokenised fund distribution has not typically reached.
ChinaAMC Hong Kong is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Asset Management, one of China's largest ETF providers with approximately $386 billion in assets under management as of March 2025. The parent's scale gives the tokenised MMF suite institutional credibility in both traditional and digital asset markets.
