DBS Bank has launched DBS Token Services, a suite of blockchain-powered banking products for institutional clients, marking one of the clearest examples of a major global bank integrating distributed ledger technology directly into its core transaction banking infrastructure rather than running it as a separate pilot.
The suite comprises three products: Treasury Tokens for real-time multi-currency corporate treasury movements, Conditional Payments that execute automatically when predefined conditions are met, and Programmable Rewards for incentive and loyalty applications. The platform integrates DBS's permissioned EVM-compatible blockchain with its core payments engine, enabling 24/7 real-time settlement — a significant operational advance over traditional banking infrastructure constrained by cut-off times and correspondent banking delays.
Ant International is the first named enterprise client, using Treasury Tokens to support intra-group transfers across its global operations. The live deployment gives DBS Token Services immediate credibility as production infrastructure rather than a proof of concept.
The launch is significant for two reasons beyond the technology. First, DBS has positioned this as a standing banking product rather than a sandbox experiment — institutional clients can access it through existing DBS relationships. Second, the integration with DBS's core payments engine means the blockchain layer is embedded in the bank's operational stack, not running alongside it.
DBS also confirmed it is continuing to develop blockchain applications for trade finance digitalisation, suggesting Token Services is the first of several production deployments rather than a standalone initiative.
