HSBC and Ant Digital Technologies completed a technical verification in which an AI agent discovered a digital service, used it and paid for it with tokenized bank deposits, with real-time blockchain settlement, the companies announced on October 9.
HSBC's Tokenised Deposit Service handled settlement and real-time risk checks through a Model Context Protocol interface. Ant Digital's Anvita Flow platform let the agent find and invoke services and managed micropayment settlement. The transactions ran on Jovay Testnet, a Layer 2 test environment. Zhuoqun Bian of Ant Digital said the test shows the potential of on-chain AI agents.
The companies describe the exercise as technical verification only. They did not disclose transaction counts, payment values or next steps, and said it is not a commercial launch or a live customer product.
