The New York Stock Exchange has announced the development of a platform for 24/7 trading and on-chain settlement of tokenised securities — covering both US listed equities and ETFs — for which it will seek regulatory approvals, in what represents the most significant market infrastructure commitment to blockchain-based securities trading to date.

NYSE's digital platform will support 24/7 operations, instant settlement, dollar-sized and fractional share orders, and stablecoin-based funding. Its architecture combines NYSE's Pillar matching engine — the exchange's core order matching technology — with blockchain-based post-trade systems and the capability to support multiple chains for settlement and custody. Tokenised shareholders will retain traditional rights including dividends and governance participation, and tokenised shares will be fungible with traditionally issued securities rather than representing a separate instrument class.

The platform extends beyond the trading venue itself. Intercontinental Exchange, NYSE's parent company, is working with BNY and Citi to support tokenised deposits across ICE's clearinghouses — enabling clearing members to transfer and manage money outside traditional banking hours, meet margin obligations, and accommodate funding across jurisdictions and time zones. The clearing integration signals that ICE is building toward fully on-chain market infrastructure rather than a standalone tokenised trading venue.

Lynn Martin, President of NYSE Group, said NYSE is leading the industry toward fully on-chain solutions grounded in the protections and regulatory standards that the exchange has built over more than two centuries. Michael Blaugrund, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at ICE, described tokenised securities as a pivotal step in ICE's strategy to operate on-chain market infrastructure for trading, settlement, custody, and capital formation.

The platform remains subject to regulatory approvals and is not yet live. The parallel NYSE-Securitize MoU announced in March 2026, naming Securitize as the first eligible digital transfer agent on the upcoming Digital Trading Platform, adds further operational specificity to the infrastructure build-out.
