Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) plans to offer custody for selected cryptoassets, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets to institutional and accredited-investor corporate clients, the bank announced on October 8. The service is subject to applicable regulatory requirements.

Patrick Lee, CEO of Standard Chartered in Singapore and ASEAN and South Asia, said robust infrastructure will be critical for handling tokenized assets at institutional scale. Ole Matthiessen, global head of Transaction Services and Digital Assets, said the bank's status as a global systemically important bank provides the trust and safeguards that broader market participation requires.

Singapore would join the UAE, Luxembourg and Hong Kong, where the bank already offers digital asset custody. The announcement does not name a launch date, a regulatory approval, clients or a technology provider, so this is a plan, not a live service.
