UBS Asset Management has launched the UBS USD Money Market Investment Fund Token — uMINT — on the Ethereum blockchain, extending its UBS Tokenize platform into institutional cash management and adding to a growing roster of major asset managers putting money market products on-chain.

The fund gives tokenholders access to UBS's institutional cash management instruments through an on-chain structure, combining the yield and security characteristics of a traditional money market fund with the settlement efficiency and 24/7 accessibility of blockchain infrastructure. The launch follows UBS's earlier tokenised fund issuances under the UBS Tokenize programme, building out a systematic on-chain fund distribution strategy rather than treating individual launches as standalone experiments.

UBS's choice of Ethereum — a public blockchain — rather than a permissioned private chain is notable. It places uMINT alongside BlackRock's BUIDL fund and Janus Henderson's Anemoy partnership as major institutional products choosing public blockchain infrastructure with permissioned access controls layered on top, rather than building entirely private systems.

The pattern across Q4 2024 is clear: tokenised cash management is becoming a standard product category for major asset managers. UBS, BlackRock, and Franklin Templeton have all launched or expanded on-chain money market or Treasury products within a twelve-month window, suggesting the market is moving from early adoption to competitive product development.
